I craft each piece of wall art using mixed media and dot painting techniques. The term “mandala,” originating from Sanskrit – meaning “circle” or “spiritual center,” is a sacred geometric symbol that serves as a visual representation of the universe and a tool for focusing attention, establishing sacred space, and achieving a sense of wholeness. The design radiates from a central motif expanding outwards in an intricate pattern. I place each dot individually, building layer upon layer, creating texture and depth. This three-dimensional effect presents a perfect blend of traditional mandala artistry with a contemporary twist.
Theme: Features a watercolor and acrylic greyscale tibetan mandala with central dharma wheel motif.
Embellishments: After the theme is complete, I accent the piece with silver accents and complemented with glass mirrors and rhinestones that catch the light.
Methods and Materials: The surface is composed of cabinet grade birch plywood and further backed with black felt. The mediums applied include matte, pearl and metallic acrylic paints. Finally, I seal the finished product with an acrylic coating for durability.
Mounting: You can hang the artwork on a vertical surface using adhesive strips or a plate hanger. Alternately, display it on a horizontal surface using a plate stand.
Pieces 24-inches or larger are prepared with wood mounting strips and picture hanging wirefor vertical placement.
Care/Maintenance: Avoid direct sunlight. Clean gently with a dry cloth. This item is not suitable for outdoors.
